August began by attending the Helen Boosalis Inspiring Women Scholarship Luncheon. It was an honor to be in the presence of so many multigenerational women leaders from across the state. The following Monday was an interview at the NTV studio. It was a nice opportunity to speak about my plan to address mental health needs for the one million Nebraskans who live in an area without enough mental health providers. The week ended by learning about tax structure, especially related to property taxes. Our property taxes are controlled by our local communities and primarily fund our public schools so kids can learn and grow.
The Kool-Aid Days Parade had an excellent turnout and was an exceptional time. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up, drive the truck, operate the bubble machine, and hand out candy and cards! I sincerely appreciate you, as I cannot win this election without your support!
The month ended with a meeting with the principal of Zion Classical Academy. It was such a pleasure to tour the school, learn about their educational curriculum and programs, and hear their needs that can be addressed in the Legislature.
